The Fairgrounds Golf Course is a municipal course within the racetrack of the Sonoma County Fairgrounds. The course is a short, mostly par 3 course, that hosts two short par 4s allowing a course rating/slope for players playing from the white tees.
All of the par three holes have substantial aprons short of the green allowing players to run the ball up on most holes, but the rough on all sides of the greens is quite substantial. There are few trees in the racetrack, so the southern prevailing winds exist as a major factor players must deal with on most days.
The course is very affordable, beginner friendly, and features a range and practice facility.
Exceptional North Bay Golf
Located in the center of the Sonoma County Fairgrounds Race Track, the course first opened in 1960 as the Fairgrounds Golf Center. It soon established a reputation as an ideal practice facility. With a multi-station driving range, ideal for both short and long irons, and a large putting and chipping green, along with its 9 hole executive course, the Golf Center became a popular venue for beginners, as well as players looking for a quick 9 holes or tuning up their game.
Industry Recognition
On April 1, 2006 the “all new” Fairgrounds Golf Course and Learning Center reopened, and is now known as the area’s premier practice facility. Because of our dedication to Junior Golf and growing the game, The National Golf Course Owner’s Association has awarded the course Beginner Friendly Certification!
We’re quite proud of the fact that we are 1 of only 3 courses certified as Beginner Friendly in the North Bay.
