Hole 14 is a quite difficult par 4. Wind may easily be a factor coming in off Lake Merced, and will likely move shots rightward toward the trees. The tee shot is downhill, into a fairway that initially slopes sharply toward the water. This gap can be cleared with powerful drive, and the player will be rewarded for it.
The approach will be a long and uphill. Most will need at least one extra club. The shot into a green guarded on the left by a deep bunker. Missing right can also be problematic as the green is elevated on both sides, and the area short right acts as a grass bunker.
Once on, the large green will still likely challenge most.
