The view from the tee box at the #16 hole, Sea Wall, is stunning. Mountains up over the course meet cliffs at the ocean. The hole is arguably the signature links hole of the course. It is dominated by any wind, with a friendly area to miss on the left side. It has a rolling fairway, with a challenging tight approach to an elevated green.
The tee shot is best played to the more dangerous right side, where the approach can better use the sharp upslope of the green to help stop the ball.
A tee shot pushed to the left side, or even the next fairway, will complicate the approach. The mound on the front-left of the green can easily kick the approach rightward, to the downslope of the green, likely off the green to the right.
The green is dominated by the steep slope from the center of the green down past the front edge. An approach shot that flies green to avoid this slope can easily be lost in the bushes beyond. Pin position here dramatically affect scores, and a tough position can easily lead to 3 putts.
