The 9th at Presidio is an amazing par 5. The tee shot is to a split fairway with a large fairway bunker on the left side. Longer hitters may try to cross the gap, but they need to be aware of the risks both fairway bunkers present. The bunker on the left punishes a fade that fails to move, and the bunker on the right will punish a shot that fades a bit too much.
Note the out-of-bounds, any powerful shot that misses right won’t stand a chance. The short landing area is also pitched strongly rightward, so even safer shots need to be played carefully.
A conservative tee shot leaves a very straight-forward second. Most people won’t need anything more than a mid-iron, which will leave a simple wedge into the green.
Playing for two, the player must be wary of the twin bunkers guarding anything running up to the green. There is only a narrow apron to run up to.
