Hole 6 Discussion

Hole 6 is extremely short. It doglegs hard right. There are a few options off the tee. Firstly, the obvious shot is a high cut, left-to-right, around the trees. The fairway provides a large landing area, and for many, the green will be reachable. Another option is that one can play short, to the center of the fairway. This can even be a short iron, because making the turn is only about 125 yards from the back of the tees. Finally, from some tee positions, there is the controversial play where one can completely eliminate the corner by playing the ball through the trees.

Note though, the landing area slopes right-to-left, and there are some mounds of rough to watch out for. If you’re not trying to get as close as possible, it may be a good idea to play short of these mounds.

The approach is entirely dependent on the path taken, but generally, the short shot will have a wedge in without the option to run the ball onto the green. If you play long-left, you will have a semi-blind shot into the green. If you cut it right you should be able to see the green.

The green here isn’t trivial and will reward shots that get close.
