Green Acres Country Club was established in 1943 and incorporated on January 11, 1944, but the golf course dates to 1917 or 1924. Various sources disagree as to the history. Those that believe the course dates to 1917 credit the design to George O’Neil. Others say that the Green Acres Country Club Golf Course dates to 1924 was then known as the Illinois Golf Club, and was designed by A.W. Tillinghast. The course was renovated in the 2000s by Roger Rulewich.
