Hole 6 is an intimidating tee shot due to the presence of the berms on the left and the woods and fence on the right, but a good tee shot will give you a good chance at getting home in two. If you can shape the ball from left to right, you should play it along the cart path and allow it to fade back into the fairway. Missing to the right will generally mean a punch-out, since there aren’t many windows out of those trees, although you can usually find the ball and salvage a par. The 250 stake is a great target for your drive (assuming a straight ball flight). If you manage to hit the fairway, you should have less than 250 yards into the green, which is relatively large and forgiving. Due to its size, it can pose the same problem as the 2nd green, where a miss on the wrong side can leave a tough two-putt, but it lacks the contours and shelves that make 2 so unpleasant. As long as you avoid trouble off the tee, you should have a chance to pick up a stroke here. Oh, and keep your eyes peeled on the tee box for a scenic view of the Naval War College and the opportunity to spot ospreys or bald eagles fishing for some dinner in the river.
