Hole 2 is a long par 4 with one of the few hazards on the course to the right and a very deep green, making it one of the toughest holes on the front nine. It can play 420 yards or more from the tips, depending on how far the tees are pushed back. Obviously you have to avoid the trees on the right, as well as the tall grass behind the elevated 3rd tee box, but bailing out left can be problematic due to the trees separating the 2nd and 7th holes. The ideal place to place your drive is on the right side of the fairway, taking the fairway bunkers out of play and giving you some additional room to work with on your approach. The key to playing this hole successfully, however, is to put your approach on the right part of the green. It’s about 50 yards deep, so leaving yourself at the front of the green with a back pin or vice versa is a one-way ticket to Three-Putt City. Make sure to pull out the range finder and ensure you have as precise a distance as you can, lest that GIR turn into a bogey.
