The 16th is a classic Redan hole, and is based on the 15th hole at North Berwick (West). Players with modern launch angles can attack the green in various ways, but the traditional approach to the hole is a long iron, with knockdown shot, that runs to the right corner of the green. From there, the ball should trickle down to the left side, which is the standard pin placement.
The hole drops off severely on all sides, so missing anywhere but short right will be challenging.
