Tamahka - The Tunica-Biloxi Tribal word for Alligator.
Tamahka (Alligator) Trails was appropriately named not only for the indigenous creature often seen at the golf course, but also for its untamed and treacherous nature. Like the animal, the golf course can seem docile at times, but wayward shots can quickly fall prey to one of the many dangers incorporated into this entertaining yet deceptive layout.
Tamahka Trails Golf Club meanders through a beautiful 230 acre tract of rolling terrain, which is very unique to central and south Louisiana. The golf course features winding creeks, majestic century-old trees along with native wildlife providing a sense of seclusion and harmony with nature. The course was designed by award-winning architect, Steve Smyers, who thoughtfully incorporated the natural features of this picturesque landscape in creating one of the premier golf courses in Louisiana. This 18 hole, par 71 championship layout will challenge scratch golfers from the back tees, while providing an enjoyable and memorable experience for higher handicappers by offering 5 sets of tees (ranging from 7,130 yards to 4,251).
