The opening hole is a straight-away, downhill par 4. The tee sits way up at the clubhouse, and it plays well downhill. The landing area is complex. The fairway kicks left, but there are quite a few rollers throughout, finally ending at a low point, about 173 yards from the green. The far-left side borders the driving range, which is out-of-bounds.
The best approach is from the left as it provides the best angle to the green. Ideally, from behind the fairway bunker.
There is a strong ridge across the green, separating the front from the back. The front-left of the green pushes strongly leftward.
Note: The way to the driving range, head around the right-hand side of the first tee, down the hill, past the first green, and then turn left and follow the cart path from there.
