Orkney Golf Club lies on the side of Wideford Hill on the West side of Kirkwall. The course offers a well-maintained and attractively priced full eighteen holes. The club was founded in 1889 and has a layout of 5,407yds when played off the white tees; making it the oldest and longest of the seven courses in Orkney. At Orkney Golf Club, we pride ourselves on being inclusive and welcoming towards all golfers, regardless of gender, age or ability.
The course offers a challenging and fair test of golf, but at a little shy of 6,000yds it will play shorter than many golfers are used to. However, with out of bounds on ten of the eighteen holes and heavy rough/gorse on most holes, keeping it straight off the tee is a must, or even low handicap golfers could find it a challenge to successfully plot their way around.
As well as enjoying a challenging round of golf, you can look forward to taking in a beautiful panoramic view across Kirkwall and the Northern Isles.
