From initial discussions in March 1973, construction on Longside Golf Club commenced in 3rd March 1976. The project was met with scepticism, but with commitment, dedication and sheer hard work, a Golf Course was created out of a water logged bog and Council tip.
The first Club AGM was held in February 1978, and in May 1979 the 9 hole course was declared open. The Clubhouse was finally finished in the summer of 1980.
The official opening of Longside Golf Club took place on 16th August 1980.
In 1991 a proposal to extend the course was approved, and between land purchase and donation, the extension to 18 holes was open for play on 6th April 1996.
