Hole 11 Discussion

#11 is the most reachable par 4 on the course. Unlike all the other short par 4s, the hole plays downhill and has a green that can attract well-struck drives rather than repelling them. Also unlike the other short par 4s, the hole is a dogleg left and requires a right-to-left shot to reach the green.

On the tee, the player has a great view of the surrounding areas but he or she must focus attention on a large mound just short of the green. A well-placed drive that lands on or around the hill with a draw can bounce up and over and run onto the green. Misses short and right are just fine, leaving a short pitch shot to the green. An aggressive drive is not without danger, though - a pushed or sliced shot can end up in junk on the right, while a pulled or overdrawn drive will end up in even worse shape out of bounds. It is especially easy to miss left given the prevailing wind and tilt of the land.

The layup zone in the 80-100 yard zone is very easy to find off the tee but leaves a blind shot over the mound and can be water-logged and muddy for weeks in the rainy season. A miss long is bad but playable; a miss left is on the road and gone.

Like the rest of the hole, the green tilts from right to left but is otherwise manageable. A definite eagle opportunity for the strong hitter!
