Extensive drainage work in recent years has resulted in a course that is open to playing most days of the year. The course is available to all Members, visitors, small groups, and societies. Since the introduction of the iconic Falkirk Wheel in 2002, the 367-yard 10th, “Canal Wheel,” has become the signature hole at Carmuirs. Golfers tee off across a gully towards the huge rotating boat lift that connects the Forth & Clyde Canal with the Union Canal a mile away and this dramatic landmark forms a terrific backdrop to the hole.

The present course, known locally as Carmuirs, is situated in Camelon, about 1.5 miles west of the Town Centre. The 118 acres that it sits on was located on what once formed part of the large Callendar Estate owned by the Forbes family - previous owners of the historic Callendar House in Falkirk’s Callendar Park.
