El Macero Country Club features an 18-hole parkland-style Championship course stretching to 6,862 yards from the furthest set of tees. The course was designed by course architect Bob Baldock, who designed several courses in California and Nevada. The course offers four different sets of tee markers, and the rating and slope from the back tees is 73.0/129. El Macero has served as a qualifying spot for several USGA events over the years, and serves as the home course for UC Davis Men’s and Women’s golf teams. Notable PGA Tour players that have played in tournaments at El Macero include Byron Nelson, Peter Jacobsen, Tiger Woods, and Nick Watney. El Macero is a quick 12-minute drive from downtown Sacramento, and when serving as the Governor of California, Ronald Reagan used to enjoy the golf experience in between government meetings.
