Hole 13 Discussion

Hole 13 is a short par 4 that appears to reward aggression but really mostly punishes poorly-executed aggression. If you can fade the ball over the big oak tree on the right, you can cut off some distance and have a sand wedge in. However, if you miscalculate or mishit your shot, the tree will swat it down ruthlessly and you’ll be looking at a punch out from 150 yards or more. A miss further to the right could end up over the fence, while a miss to the left will end up in the trees, again forcing a long punch out, or on the 16th hole, forcing a “fore left”. If you’re not confident in hitting a high fade, a fairway wood into the fairway should leave a comfortable wedge shot in. While the trees forming a semicircle around the back of the green are scenic, they are not fun to hit out of, so don’t miss long. This green tends to be one of the softest and slowest on the course, so be sure to give the putt a bit more than you think you need to.
