Hole 10 Discussion

Hole 10 starts out the back nine with another drivable par 4. This hole is so wide open that it's almost impossible to hit a bad shot (famous last words). Any miss other than a ball immediately under the trees on the left should be recoverable; even the worst slice just means you'll need a pitching wedge instead of a sand wedge. It's usually between 280 and 290 yards to get it to the green from the tips, with plenty of room to bail out right of the green. The area in front of the green is hilly, often wet rough, though, so if you don't fancy a chip from that type of lie, it may be better to just hit a mid-iron and leave yourself a wedge in. The green is very narrow from front to back, providing an additional hazard for the would-be green driver, but this narrowness can be an advantage if you manage to land in the fairway to the right of the green, since you have a great deal of vertical distance to play with. This hole is one of the most forgiving on a pretty forgiving course, and you don't have much excuse for walking away with worse than a four here.
