On Monday, Cypresswood Golf Club officially closed the Creek Course, which now will become part of the Spring Creek Greenway Project. The move leaves Bear Creek Golf World as the area's only public facility offering play on three 18-hole courses.
“From an operator's standpoint, it is a sign of the economic times and the golf market place throughout the United States,” said Cypresswood Golf Club general manager Doug Borow, who came to the club in 2005 as part of Foresight Golf.
“It was an opportunity for Harris County to have a better use for the land as a park. There are simply more numbers of people who will utilize the land as a park than will play it as a golf course.”
