This course was originally 9 holes and dates back to the early 1900s. A second 9 was added around 1999. The newer 9 was carved out of the surrounding forest. The original 9 is relatively lush when cared for, but the soils of the newer 9 are firmer, with a higher clay content, the grass is patchier, and the design is questionable.
Up until around 2002, the course was known as BVCC, or Bureau Valley Country Club. Financial troubles led it to be sold to another course management company which renamed it Hunter’s Ridge. In 2013, the course was purchased by the Husemann family and renamed the Chapel Hill Golf Course and Event Center.
