Augusta National designer and world-famous course architect, Dr. Alister Mackenzie oversaw course design of Bonnyton from March 1922 to June 1923 whereby he opened the course in an exhibition match with George Duncan, Abe Mitchell, J. H. Kirkwood and multi-Major winner, Walter Hagen.
