The tee shot is somewhat uphill onto a ridge line at the two deep fairway bunkers. Attacking the bunkers dramatically reduces the area player can miss, but players will be rewarded with a much easier look at the green.
The green has a large ridge separating the back left of the green from the front right. Shots long may run off the back or into the bunker, both of which will present serious problems.
“It’s just long. The bunkers are still deep. I think they are unplayable to get to the ball to the green. You have to be very lucky and get a situation that you might be able to get to the front edge of the green, but you just need to stay out of those bunkers. But it is really long.”
“Fairway bunker off the tee is a big mistake, as it’s such a difficult shot, with such a steep face that you can’t see where you’re hitting. Also, if you leave your approach short right or left, you’ve got to be Houdini to escape with a par.”
