The tee shot is less dramatic these day, but the hole is still extremely challenging. The hole was formerly home to the Eisenhower Tree, name for President Dwight D. Eisenhower, a member. It limited tee shot access to the left side of the fairway, but was removed in 2014 due to damage.
The approach is an uphill shot to a green with two large bunkers guarding the front side. The green is much more challenging on the right and side as everything will run away from a pin positioned there.
“The biggest mistake would be long right, over the green. It’s at least eight feet below the green surface, trying to land the ball on a downslope!”
“If the tee shot isn’t in the fairway, you’re going to have a tough time.”
