Hole 1 Discussion

Hole 1 is a downhill, dogleg right, par 5. The tee shot allows players to try to cut the corner, but the ground past the corner slopes strongly toward the ocean, so any shot played to the fairway will kick off left. A conservative player will simply play a controlled shot to the turn, which might not even require a driver.

With a well placed tee shot, playing for two will still require a long second played off an uneven lie. Two massive bunkers guard both sides of the green, so running it up will likely not be an option. The shot will also likely move left due to the fairway tilt and the green also tilts slightly left, which could make holding the green more challenging.

Playing for three should be mostly straightforward. A long iron can leave a wedge into the green, but a mid-iron will still leave a relatively straightforward shot in.

The green slopes back to front, and tilts slightly toward the ocean.
