The course starts with a dramatic dogleg right. The tee shot is downhill to the corner. You’ll see many people play irons off the tee here, as trying to cut the corner will likely lead to a strong kick off the fairway into the trees. There will likely be a sizable gallery, as the practice greens are immediately adjacent to the first tee.
The approach shot can be dramatic as the green slopes sharply on the left and back side. Shots that miss left will be in trouble, and shots that miss long might be unplayable. The fairway here will be quite firm in most seasons and slopes gently to the left, leaving a running shot as an option.
