Hole 13 Discussion

The long par 5 13th is an extremely challenging hole. The tee shot plays to a narrow fairway with three fairway bunkers on the left side. The landing area isn’t visible because of the course’s huge bunkering, and there is a drainage line through the landing area with may cause trouble if the player ends up in it.

The second shot plays down to a ridge at the pinch point in the fairway. Distance will be strongly rewarded here, as the ridge drops down strongly until it reaches it’s base, about 90 yards from the green. Missing this shot long-left, however, will bring the left-side water hazard into play.

The third shot will play over large gap, as the fairway dips precipitously, and then juts back up to the green. The approach needs to focus on getting the ball in accurately to the green. There is trouble almost everywhere.

Once on the green, the player should have a good look at a two putt.
