Hole 6 Discussion

Hole 6 is a long par 5. If you’re lucky, the wind will be at you back, and blowing strongly. The goal of the tee shot is to get to a position where the second can, ideally, round the corner, but at least get to the corner. To get around the corner, the right side trades length for a much better angle. The left side has trees at the corner that reach out to block anything trying to get around, and will force the player to lay up. Only the strongest players could possibly reach the fairway bunkers, even with the wind.

The second shot is simple enough, get to the corner, and around if you can. Any result with a straight shot within 175 yards to the pin is excellent position.

The approach will require accuracy. The bowl behind the green will catch shots too long, but they, like #5, lead to downhill chips onto downward sloping green. The trees on the right side appear to favor a fade, but shots that move too far right can easily roll with the slope into the bunker behind the green.

This green can have some of the tougher pin positions on the course. It’s not uncommon to see placements that will send any missed putt sliding away, running feet, and then yards past as the ball refuses to stop on this green. A two putt here is good work.
