Hole 9 Discussion

The ninth is one of the more technically challenging holes one the course. It's a par 4, and the main idea of the hole is a dogleg right, but from the back tees it will play like a double dogleg, left then right. The tee shot is perilous. It plays over a small gap. On the left: red stakes the whole way to the green. On the right: out-of-bounds in the form of the driving range net.

The tee shot is semi-blind to a ridge. The back side of the ridge, if the player is long enough to get over it, kicks forward and a bit to the left. Much of the fairway here will slope right-to-left. The benefit of ending up on the center-to-left side of the fairway is a clear look at the green.

The green complex is tough, and it makes the approach shot pretty tough. The center of the green is only 16 yards across with deep bunkers on both sides. The approach plays over a small valley, so running up to the front isn't an option. The better miss is the right side, as the left side falls off past the bunker. Every shot on this hole needs to be thought through.
