The course opens with a strategic par 5 with a dog leg and creek crossing right at the end. While theoretically reachable in two for some, the barriers near the green make this effectively impossible.
The key to this hole is having at approach shot at the dogleg. There is a large tree that blocks direct access to the green from many angles, so choosing a landing area is essential. This makes the second shot very important, so a powerful tee shot will be very, very helpful. At each step along this path, players might lose a stroke.
The green itself isn’t particularly friendly either.
It’s one of the most technically challenging holes on the course, and it’s the first one to play. A par here should be celebrated.
