Hole 3 Discussion

Flowering Peach is an uphill par 4 that can be reachable for longer hitters. The hole is quite strategic. Depending on pin position, players have advantages or disadvantages from getting past the bunkers into a trough below the green.

Strategy is complicated because the left side of the green slopes away on both sides. If the pin is in that position it presents a challenge to any miss, no matter which side a player is on when chipping back up, they risk running off the green again.

“The options – A player has three options off the tee:

  • Option A – Layup short of the bunkers leaving a full wedge into the green.

  • Option B – Drive it past the the bunkers into the valley short of the green. Player has a short approach in.

  • Option C – Under the right conditions and with enough length, players can give the green a go.

The stars of the show – The best option changes from day to day based on the pin position and wind direction.”

“You have to know where the pin is off the tee. Based on where the pin is will determine what you are hitting off the tee box. It could be a 5-iron. It could be a driver. Just depends on the where the pin is and how the greens are holding.”
